GREENWOOD, S.C. –
Marley Smith recorded her third double-double of the season with a team high 22 points and she added 10 rebounds in Flagler College's 80-64 loss at Lander University in a Peach Belt Conference women's basketball game Saturday afternoon at Finis Horne Arena.
Lander improved to 8-14 overall and 6-9 in the Peach Belt. Flagler slipped to 9-15 overall and 4-12 in conference play. The Saints return home to face the University of South Carolina Beaufort this Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at Flagler Gym.
After an
Aspen Weeks three-pointer got the Saints to within five (48-43), the Bearcats answered with a 15-2 run that lasted for 4:27 of the third quarter. Quadaija Langley sank a pair of free throws to give Lander its largest lead of the game (63-45) with 37 seconds left in the quarter.
Jessica Dowdy added 14 points for Flagler while
Carleigh Grimm grabbed a season-high 12 rebounds.
Langley led all scorers with 25 points and she tallied six steals. She made 10-of-14 free throw attempts. Lauren Crosland added 20 points on 7-of-14 shooting from the field and 6-of-10 shooting from three-point range. Alindria Dudley finished with 19 points and eight rebounds.
The Bearcats forced 25 Saints turnovers and converted them into 24 points.
