AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Peach Belt Conference announced its 2026 postseason awards Friday afternoon, and the No. 11 Flagler College men's soccer team was well represented. The Saints earned five First Team All-PBC selections, two Second Team All-PBC honors, and three major conference awards.
In his fifth season leading the Saints, head coach
Thomas Coombes was named PBC Coach of the Year after guiding Flagler to a 12-1-4 overall record and an 11-0-1 mark in conference play. The 11 conference victories set a Peach Belt Conference record. Coombes also led the Saints to their third PBC regular-season title and their first since 2011. The last Flagler head coach to earn the honor was John Lynch in 2015.
The Saints' success this season has been fueled by a balanced attack and a strong defensive presence. Senior forward
Finn Weigelt was named PBC Offensive Player of the Year and earned First Team All-PBC honors. He is the first Saint to receive the award since Johan Bergfeld in 2011. Weigelt started 11 of his 17 appearances and led the Saints with 23 points on 11 goals and one assist. His goal total also earned him a share of the conference's Select Gold Ball Award, presented to the league's top goal scorers.
"I'm delighted for Finn to be recognized as offensive player of the year," said Coombes. "To be the top scorer in a very competitive conference is a huge achievement. Finn has been fantastic for us this season and has played a key role in our success!"
On the defensive end,
Filip Hornburg was named PBC Defensive Player of the Year and earned First Team All-PBC honors for the second consecutive season. A five-time PBC Defensive Player of the Week this season, Hornburg started all 17 matches on the backline and helped the Saints record six clean sheets. The sophomore also contributed offensively, scoring four goals and adding an assist. His selection marks the fifth consecutive season a Flagler defender has earned the conference's Defensive Player of the Year award.
"Filip is a special talent, and for him to receive back-to-back defensive player of the year honors is an incredible achievement. He embodies what it means to be a Flagler player both on and off the field."
Senior forward
Tim Wahlborg earned First Team All-PBC honors after putting together a career-best season. The Östersund, Sweden, native started 10 of his 12 appearances and recorded six goals and two assists. He also tallied two multi-goal performances this season, scoring twice against No. 2 Rollins and USC Aiken.
"Tim is a big-time player for us. When he is at his best, he is unplayable. His size, speed, and strength make him one of the most dangerous forwards in the country, and he fully deserves his first team honor."
In his first season in the Ancient City, junior winger
Dani Freire also earned First Team All-PBC recognition. Freire scored one goal and led the Saints with five assists, tying for the conference lead. In a 2-2 draw against Barry, he assisted on both of Flagler's goals.
"Dani has added a lot to our attack this year. His ability to dribble and create has helped us unlock defenses this season. The number of assists that he has provided is a key reason as to why he has been recognized as a first time All-PBC player."
Senior defender
Daniel Becerra rounded out Flagler's First Team All-PBC selections after providing a steady presence on the backline. A 2025 Second Team All-PBC selection, Becerra started 12 of his 13 appearances and contributed to three shutouts. The Barranquilla, Colombia, native also made an impact offensively, recording two goals and an assist.
"Daniel is a brilliant player that provides a calmness and a maturity to our back line. He has a great ability to manage games and lock down opposing forwards, and I'm happy he is being recognized as one of the best defenders in the conference."
Junior forward
Henry Okenla earned Second Team All-PBC honors in his second season with the Saints. The Boston College transfer has been a key contributor off the bench, appearing in 15 matches. He has scored five goals, the third-most on the team, and added an assist.
"Henry has turned up for us when it matters this year, and he has produced some very big goals and moments for this team. I am confident that he still has more goals and more moments in him as we enter the postseason."
Midfielder
Callum Stokes also earned Second Team All-PBC honors after making an impact following his return from injury. The Lander transfer missed half the season but appeared in 10 matches, including nine starts. He recorded one goal and four assists, with his assist total ranking third on the team and tied for fourth in the conference.
"Callum missed half the season with an injury, so for him to still be recognized as second team shows how special of a talent he is. Whenever he is on the field, he finds a way to impact the game, which is a huge positive, and we are excited for him to contribute even more in the postseason."
Flagler returns to action Wednesday, Nov. 4, when the Saints host the winner of USC Aiken and Lander in the PBC Tournament semifinals. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m., and the match will be streamed on the Peach Belt Conference Sports Network.
