BLUFFTON, S.C. –
Gabby Bush poured in a team high 18 points, all in the second half, but it wasn't enough as Flagler College's fourth quarter rally fell short in an 82-74 loss at USC Beaufort in a Peach Belt Conference women's basketball game Wednesday evening at the Sand Shark Recreation Center.
Flagler dropped to 6-8 overall and 2-5 in the Peach Belt. USC Beaufort improved to 8-6 overall and 5-2 in conference play. Flagler hosts Trinity College of Florida on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Flagler Gym.
The Saints trailed 73-49 after a three-pointer by Sami Bardonaro of USC Beaufort with 7:32 left in the game. Flagler answered with a 25-9 run to close the game. Within that run, the Saints reeled off 10 consecutive points to trim the deficit to single-digits, 81-72.
Natalie Herrin finished the spurt with a pair of free throws with 53 seconds remaining.
Abby Smith added 12 points for the Saints.
Marley Smith contributed 11 points and five rebounds.
Jessica Dowdy tallied 10 points and grabbed four rebounds. Herrin finished with eight points, five assists, and three steals.
Flagler shot 55.8 percent from the field in the final two quarters.
Janiyah Heyward just missed a double-double with 28 points and nine rebounds, both game highs. Lydia Gattozzi and Taniyah Bowman added 15 and 13 points, respectively.
