Box Score FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Flagler College's
Luke Williams scored the equalizer in the 53
rd minute but Jamie Bulloch scored the game winner in the 84
th minute as Nova Southeastern University escaped with a 2-1 win Saturday night at the NSU Soccer Stadium.
Nova Southeastern improved to 2-0-0 while Flagler moved to 0-1-1. The Saints play their home opener Tuesday at 6 p.m. against long-time rival Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University at Saints Field.
Matteo Innocenti put the Sharks on the board first when he found the back of the net in the 34
th minute. That would be the only goal in the first half.
The Saints tied the game when Williams put back
Henry Okenla's shot that was saved by the Nova Southeastern keeper. Okenla had a short dribble from the left sideline and drove to the top of the box. He fired a shot to the far post that Nikolas Ricardo punched away, but Williams was there to put the ball in on an open goal just under the cross bar.
A corner kick from the left that lofted to the right of the goal was corralled by
Andres Morral. He shuffled the ball from the back line to the center of the box to Bulloch who scored the goal with a right-footed shot into the top right-corner to put the Sharks ahead.
Ricardo finished with four saves for the Sharks while
Ryan Rivas tallied three saves for the Saints.
Flagler held a slight edge over Nova Southeastern in shots, 15-14. The Sharks had a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks. The Saints were whistled for 14 fouls and NSU were caught nine times.
