Finn Weigelt scored the lone goal of the match in the 76
th minute as Flagler College edged Embry-Riddle 1-0 in a non-conference men's soccer match Tuesday night at Saints Field.
Flagler evened its record to 1-1-1 overall. The Saints have not lost to their old-rival in the Ancient City since 2013 (a 2-0-3 record). Embry-Riddle fell to 0-2-0. Flagler will play its fourth consecutive match against a Sunshine State Conference foe on Saturday when it travels to St. Petersburg to take on Eckerd College at 6 p.m.
Weigelt's initial shot was denied by the Eagles keeper Marcos da Silva, but
Jesse van Krimpen collected the rebound and found Weigelt open for another shot who then buried the ball in the top right corner.
Ryan Rivas tallied three saves and earned his first clean sheet of the season. Da Silva recorded seven saves for the Eagles.
Flagler out-shot Embry-Riddle 13-3 and held a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks. The Saints committed 15 fouls while the Eagles had 11 and played the final minute down a man after a red card.
