Four Saints earn academic all-district honors

ST. AUGUSTINE – The Flagler College softball team had four of its members selected to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® team, according to a release Tuesday. Kiley McQuillan, Jordan Moss, Emily Ricci, and Jordan Sheets were all honored.  

To be eligible for Academic All-District® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 on a scale of 4.00, and have played in at least 90 percent of the team's games or must start in at least 66 percent of the institution's games. For pitchers, a student-athlete must have made at least 17 appearances or pitched 35 innings. No athlete is eligible until he/she has completed one full calendar year at his/her current institution and has reached sophomore athletic eligibility.   

McQuillan, a junior third base, is a public relations major who holds a 3.66 cumulative grade point average. She finished the year with a .333 batting average. The Orlando, Florida native collected 63 hits, including 13 doubles and five home runs. McQuillan drove in 54 runs and scored 24 more. She was a National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-America Scholar-Athlete last year at UNC Greensboro.

Moss, a senior outfielder, is a strategic communications/public relations major who has a 3.52 GPA. She closed out the year with a .262 batting average. The Macon, Georgia native batted .259 with one home run and had 15 runs batted in. She collected 44 hits, including nine doubles, two home runs, scored 33 runs, and stole 13 bases. Moss earned Peach Belt Conference Presidential Honor Roll scholar honors the last two years and was a D2 ADA award recipient in 2023.    

Ricci, a sophomore catcher, is a business administration major who has a 3.75 GPA. The Marietta, Georgia native finished second on the team with a .359 batting average, including 65 hits with 13 doubles, two triples, one home run, 28 RBI, and she scored 52 runs. Ricci was a PBC Presidential Honor Roll Gold Scholar last year.

Sheets, a junior pitcher, is a criminology major who has a 3.55 GPA. The New Port Richey, Florida native finished with a 10-6 record with one save, a 4.29 earned run average, and four shutouts. She is a two-time PBC Presidential Honor Roll scholar. Sheets was selected as the PBC Pitcher of the Week on March 31.
