COLUMBUS, Ga. - The No. 7-ranked (ITA Division II Top 50) Flagler College women's tennis team fell in the semifinal round of the Peach Belt Conference Tournament, 4-1, to Columbus State University this afternoon at the John W. Walden Tennis Center.
This loss knocked the Saints out of the PBC tournament, handing them their fifth loss of the season. With a 19-5 record overall, the Saints will wait till next week to see if and where they are placed for the NCAA Tournament. The Cougars moved up to 15-5 overall and will compete against No. 5 University of North Georgia for the conference title and an automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament.
In singles the match was played to clinch.
Adela Latalova was the lone Saint to pull through, defeating Laura Pesickova 6-3 and 6-4. Before the stoppage,
Laura Jipescu was in the third set of her match, with a 2-1 lead on Majra Djokic.
