No. 11 Saints take down the Flames to become GSC regular season champs

ST. AUGUSTINE. – Carley Tepel scored six goals, leading No. 11 (IWLCA Division 2 Top 25 Poll) Flagler College in its 20-6 win over Gulf South Conference opponent Lee University this afternoon on the Flagler Lacrosse Field.
 
The Saints now sit at 11-5 overall and 4-0 in the GSC. Today's win makes the Saints the GSC regular season champions for the third season in a row. Flagler has won 16 consecutive regular season conference games. The Flames drop to 5-11 and 1-3 in conference.
 
The Saints will return on April 25 to compete in the GSC Tournament semifinals in Huntsville, Alabama.
 
The Saints began the game by dominating the first quarter, 7-1. Jessica Wright got things started with the first goal of the game for the Saints. Wright went on to record a hat trick this afternoon.
 
The Saints managed a four-goal run before hearing back from the Flames. Hannah Vecsey managed to put the Flames on the scoreboard, their only goal in the first quarter.
 
The Flames managed to come back in the second quarter holding the Saints to just two goals. Vecsey scored her second goal of the game. The Saints never let go of their lead and ended the first half, 9-4.
 
The Saints continued on leaving the Flames scoreless in the third quarter and holding them to just one in the fourth.
 
The Saints high-scoring offense featured 10 different goal scorers. Sydney Onega stood out with five assists on attack.
 
The Saints defense held their own with Jenn Seebach causing two turnovers and winning four groundballs. Greta McGinnis won four draw controls in favor of the Saints.
 
Two goalies saw the field for the Saints. Lauren Ribadeniera led with five saves and Dakota Capolino followed up with four.
 
Despite falling short in the end, Savannah Weisman stood out with 14 saves for the Flames.
