NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. - At the conclusion of the 2026 season,
Dakota Capolino of the Flagler College women's lacrosse team was named the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association(IWLCA) Divison II Goalkeeper of the Year yesterday afternoon. Capolino's distinction is the program's first national major award.
One of the nation's premier goalkeepers, Capolino helped guide the Saints to a program best 20-1 season. Capolino finished the season ranked second in the nation in save percentage with .519 and was also named USA Lacrosse Magazine Second-Team All-America. The backbone of one of Division II's most successful defenses this season, Capolino has saved 120 total shots, resulting in Flagler's 6.76 goals allowed per game.
During Flagler's Gulf South Conference tournament run, Capolino had her career best match on total saves. In the championship match against University of Alabama in Huntsville, Capolino saved 12 shots. Three games during the season saw the sophomore save 11. In separate games, Capolino had a perfect save percentage.
