AMERICUS, Ga. –
Kiley McQuillan belted a three-run home run to left field in the top of the sixth inning to help Flagler College complete a rally and defeat Georgia Southwestern State University 7-5 in a Peach Belt Conference softball game Friday night at the Lady 'Canes Softball Field.
Flagler improved to 29-16 overall and 12-7 in the Peach Belt. Georgia Southwestern fell to 23-21 overall and 9-10 in conference play. The same two teams meet tomorrow in a doubleheader at 1 p.m.
The Saints did all their damage in the sixth with two outs.
Emily Ricci reached on an infield single and
Hannah Smith followed with a single through the right side of the infield. McQuillan followed with a blast that wiped out a 5-4 deficit.
Stephanie Daly (3-5) worked 5.2 innings in relief and allowed two runs on five hits with four strikeouts to get the win.
Alyssa Hunter started for Flagler.
Smith led the Saints with three singles, one run batted in, and she scored a run.
Reese Snipes went 2-for-4 with a solo home run.
Kyla Knier collected a pair of singles and scored a run.
Sydney Stewart added two singles while Ricci had two infield hits and scored two runs.
Pyper McCard (8-6) surrendered seven runs (six earned) on 12 hits in 5.2 innings to get the loss for the Lady 'Canes.
Malone Aldridge hit a two-run double in the second inning.
