FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – Barbra Tucker and
Sydney Onega both scored hat tricks for No. 11 (IWLCA Division II Top 25 Poll) Flagler College in a 17-11 victory over Emmanuel University Friday evening at Stephens Field.
The Saints improved to 6-4 overall and the Lions dropped to 4-5 for the season. The Saints will return Saturday at noon for an away game at No. 6 (NAIA) Reinhardt University.
The score was tied at 12 at the half, but Flagler scored the first four goals of the second half and never looked back.
Ella Pinder broke the tie and seven minutes later, Onega began a flurry of goals by the Saints.
Bella Graziano and
Somer White completed the run. Graziano scored two goals and tallied an assist.
Paige Murphy led the Lions offense with six goals this evening, scoring all three goals for the Lions to start the game. Her goals gave Emmanuel a 3-2 lead at the end of the first quarter.
The Saints began to come back with Onega scoring two of her three goals to kick off the second quarter and beginning to come back and even taking a one-point lead. However, Meghan Jennings scored the equalizer for the Lions bringing the score to 6-6 to end the second quarter.
Ten Saints found the back of the net in tonight's high scoring offense.
The Saints defense held their own with
Maddy Hartsock collecting five groundballs and causing three turnovers. Saints' goalie had five saves and a groundball.
Although they were outscored in the end, Lions' goalie Emily Dawson made eight saves.
Lauren Ribadeneira recorded five saves for Flagler.
