ST. AUGUSTINE –
Carley Tepel scored a double hat trick to lead No. 16 (IWLCA Division II Top 25) Flagler College past the University of Mount Olive this afternoon in a 17-7 win in a noon-conference women's lacrosse game on the Flagler Lacrosse Field.
The Saints advance to 3-4 for the season and the Trojans drop to 1-6. The Saints will return on Thursday at 6 p.m. for a home game against Kutztown University.
The Trojans started strong scoring the first two goals of the game from Maddy Fratus and Kayanna Bowden. The Saints fired back with four consecutive goals to take the lead. Katie Broom brought the game within one point for the Trojans in the last 13 seconds of the first quarter.
The Saints continued to maintain their lead throughout the second quarter. However, the Saints truly began to pull away in the third.
The Saints went on a five-goal run to start the third quarter with two goals from
Ella Pinder who scored a hat trick this afternoon.
Sydney Onega also contributed three goals in the third quarter.
The Saints went on to completely shut out the Trojans in the final quarter and scored three unanswered goals.
Greta McGinnis stood out for the Saints winning five draw controls and her 100
th career draw control.
Jenn Seebach aided the Saints defense causing two turnovers and collecting two groundballs.
Saints goalie Lauren Ribadeniera made seven saves and reached 400 career saves this afternoon.
Two goalies saw the field for the Trojans, Anna James made five saves and Karissa Doerr made two.
