ST. AUGUSTINE–
Ella Pinder and
Sydney Onega scored four goals each to lead No. 14 (IWLCA Division II Top 25) Flagler College to a 21-10 victory over Palm Beach Atlantic University this afternoon at the Flagler Lacrosse Field.
The Saints advance to 2-3 for the season and the Sailfish drop to 1-2. The Saints will return March 5 at 7 p.m. for a home game against Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
The Saints started off hot with the first goal of the game from
Carley Tepel with an assist from
Barbara Tucker. Tepel went on to score a hat trick as well as
Jessica Wright.
The Saints held off the Sailfish leaving them scoreless in the second quarter. The Saints scored five unanswered goals to bring them to an 11-4 lead to end the first half.
The Saints held onto their lead the rest of the game with 10 different Saints finding the back of the net to help Flagler's high scoring offense.
Despite falling short in the end, Rachel Delate led the Sailfish with four goals. Sailfish goalie Georgia Karns made 11 saves.
The Saints defense stood out with Pinder winning seven draw controls.
Martha Halford caused two turnovers and picked up four ground balls. Saints goalie
Lauren Ribadeneira had six saves.
