INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Wrapping up their consolation bracket play in the 2025 ITA Indoor National Championship, the No. 7-ranked (ITA Division II Top 25) Flagler College women's tennis team took fifth overall after defeating No. 8, Wingate University, 4-2, this afternoon at the UIndy Tennis Center.
Flagler improves to 4-1 overall while Wingate slips to 4-2.The Saints come home to play the University of Charleston (W.Va.) on Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Pollard Tennis Center.
Starting their match with a crucial doubles point, No. 21 pair
Dana Heimen and
Anastasia Nikolova breezed by Chloe Kosmrlj and Daniela Kotara 6-1.
Sofia Balsera and
Adela Latalova wrapped things up against Fernanda Castillo and Claudia Vallejos, 6-4, to send the Saints into singles 1-0.
No. 5 Heimen continued her reign, going undefeated on the day after defeating No. 22 Kosmrlj, 6-2 back-to-back.
Eryka Kruk was the only undefeated Saint at the end of the week after taking down Gigi Hinson. Taking set one 6-2 then 7-5, Kruk is currently 4-1 on the season so far. The dagger came from Balsera in three sets. Going up against Mariia Bobrovska, Balsera went on a two set run, going 6-4 then 6-1 to clinch the match. Balsera is currently 4-0 in singles on the season with her match against Lynn Unviersity going unfinished.
