ST. AUGUSTINE -
Jack Pilla scored three goals to help lead Flagler College to a 10-5 win over Florida Tech in a non-conference men's lacrosse game Saturday night at the Flagler Lacrosse Field.
The Saints move to 2-1 on the season while the Panthers move to 1-2. Up next for the Saints is Florida Southern College on Friday at 7 p.m. at Lakeland.Â
A slow start to the day for the Saints quickly spiraled out of control for the Panthers. Down 3-1 in the first quarter, the Saints quickly turned things around, tying up the match 3-3 in the first.
Dylan Wilson was the first to find the back of the net for the Saints off an assist from
Trace McDonald.
Going on a seven point run to the third quarter, the Saints held the Panthers scoreless in the second quarter. McDonald had a piece in two of those, finishing the game with three assists.
Jack Pilla was the first Saint to register a hat-trick this season, scoring three unassisted goals during this scoring run.
Luke Burton found two while Wilson pulled in his second while the team was man-up. The final goal from the run came from Colton Reynolds off an assist from Burton.
In the fourth quarter the Saints outscored the Panthers 2-1 with both goals coming from
Ben Nyberg,Â
Austin Combs and
Gordon Ogden III both assisted.
On the defensive front, the Saints caused a staggering 19 turnovers.
Brendan Watson and
Ty Scheckenbach both led the team with three while three other Saints registered two.
Jacob Hauser led the team in ground balls with four while helping out in the turnover game, causing two.
Josh Stevens led the team with five saves while only allowing three goals.
