MELBOURNE, Fla. –
Ella Pinder and
Martha Halford scored three goals each to lead Flagler College to a 14-9 season-opening win over Florida Tech tonight at Rick Stottler Field.
The Saints are 1-0 and their next game will be at Florida Southern College on Feb. 7 at 5 p.m.
The Panthers started out strong scoring the first two goals of the game before the Saints answered back with a goal from
Claudia Tanksley. The two teams fired back and forth and ended the first quarter tied at 3-3.
Carley Tepel scored a pair of goals to begin the second quarter and the lead would swell to 8-4 and the Saints continued to widen the gap the rest of the game.
Eight different Saints found the back of the net tonight in their strong offensive effort.
Although they were out-scored in the end, Panthers goalie Bridget Robinson made nine saves.
Saints defense stood out with goalie
Lauren Ribadeneira lead the defense with 13 saves.
