ST. AUGUSTINE –
Tariq Daughton came off the bench to score a team-high 21 points as Flagler College edged Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University 81-77 in a non-conference men's basketball game Thursday night at Flagler Gym.
Flagler improved to 3-1 on the season while Embry-Riddle fell to 1-2. The Saints snapped a three-game losing streak in the series, and this was Flagler's first win at home since Nov. 23, 2021 when Jaizec Lottie's layup at the horn won the game over No. 15 Embry-Riddle, 78-76. The Saints play one more game before Thanksgiving. Flagler visits Edward Waters University on Tuesday at 11 a.m.
The game featured nine ties and eight lead changes.
Mason Manning sank a pair of free throws with 5:10 left to go to give the Saints a 74-63 lead.
The Eagles were able to chip away and pull to within a basket (79-77) after a three-pointer by Evan Montanari with six seconds remaining.
Camden Andrews put the game away for Flagler with a pair of free throws.
Manning finished with 19 points while
Tymoteusz Pszczola and Andrews each tacked on 13 points. Pszczola also grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.
The Saints shot a blistering 83.9 percent (26-31) from the free throw line. Daughton knocked down 10-of-13 while Manning made all eight.
Jared Berry led the Eagles with a game-high 26 points and nine rebounds. Dawson Barr added 16 points and eight rebounds. Montanari chipped in with 10 points.
Similar to Flagler, Embry-Riddle burned up the nets from the free throw line making 83.3 percent (20-24). The Eagles also blocked eight shots.
