JACKSONVILLE, Fla. –
Jordan Smith scored a team-high 16 points in Flagler College's 62-59 loss to Edward Waters University in a non-conference men's basketball game Tuesday afternoon at the Adams-Jenkins Community Sports & Music Complex.
Flagler dropped to 3-2 on the season while Edward Waters improved to 4-1. The Saints will break for the Thanksgiving holiday and return to the court for their Peach Belt Conference opener Dec. 3 at Augusta University.
The Tigers opened the game on a 12-2 run and never trailed. They held a 32-28 lead at the half and held off a Saints rally at the end.
Edward Waters took a 60-53 lead with two minutes left to play until Flagler pulled to within a point (60-59) after
Tariq Daughton sank a three-pointer. Joshua Goode added a pair of free throws for the Tigers with three seconds left.
Smith made 7-of-12 from the field, including a pair of 3-pointers and grabbed six rebounds for the Saints.
Melvin Teal came off the bench to add 10 points.
Mason Manning chipped in with nine points and five rebounds while
Tymoteusz Pszczola finished with seven points and eight rebounds.
Keshawn Evans recorded a double-double for Edward Waters with 16 points and 15 rebounds. Amari Floyd added 13 points.
