Saints fill the annual post season conference awards

AUGUSTA, Ga. - First year Head Coach Jeff Reynolds and Senior Clare Sheedy of the Flagler College volleyball team brought home major recognition from the annual Peach Belt Conference post season awards this afternoon.

Coach Reynolds was named Coach of the Year after he entered his first year at the helm of the Saints program in which he elevated the team to a 19-12 overall record and 12-3 conference record. This is the second year in a row Reynolds has won this award and third time in four years. His previous winnings was during his four years at Lander University and is now the first coach in conference history to win this award at two different PBC affiliated schools. Reynolds joins University of South Carolina at Aiken's Glenn Cox, Flagler's Taylor Mott and Armstrong University's Alan Segal as the only coaches in Peach Belt history to win the award three different times. 

For the first time in her career, Sheedy was named Setter of the Year. The Plymouth, Ind. native is the first Saint to win this award since Kennedy Muff in 2022 and fifth in program history. With 1193 assists, Sheedy ranks first in the conference and averages 10.37 assists per set. Sheedy currently ranks second in the conference in aces with 42 and fourth in aces per set with .37.

Flagler had a conference high five players named to the first and second team all conference. This is the first time since 2011 Flagler has had five players be given this award. Sophomore Marley Middlebrooks joins Sheedy as one of six athletes to be named to the first team and ties Augusta University for the most. Middlebrooks ranks second in the conference leader boards in total kills with 416 and averages 3.62 per set. In total aces, Middlebrooks is tied for third with 40 and eighth per set with .35.

Katherine Rank, Cassidy Bloom and Gracie Fleming were all named to the second team. Bloom ranks second on Flagler in total kills with 290, placing her in fifth in the conference. Bloom also ranks third on the team in aces with 35 and third in digs with 262. Fleming is the Saints' lead blocker and fourth in the conference with 83, averaging .77 a set. With a .331 hitting percentage, Fleming is first for the Saints in third in the conference off of her 241 kills. Rank holds the second most blocks for the Saints with 69. Offensively, Rank has the fifth highest hitting percentage in the conference with a .293 and her 276 kills ranks her at seventh.
