Flagler men's soccer after winning PBC Tourney title
Peach Belt Conference

Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Flagler wins its fourth conference tournament title

DAHLONEGA, Ga. – Tim Wahlborg scored both of Flagler College's goals in a 2-1 overtime win over the University of North Georgia in the Peach Belt Conference Tournament Championship match Saturday afternoon at the UNG Soccer Complex.

Flagler improved to 13-2-6 on the season and extended its unbeaten streak to 11 (8-0-3). The Saints also received the conference's automatic berth to the NCAA Division II Tournament and they will wait and see who and where they will play as the field will be announced on Monday at 7 p.m. This is the fourth tournament title for Flagler and second in a row (2011, 2020, and 2024). North Georgia fell to 10-5-5 and will see if it can earn an at-large berth.

The golden goal came in the 92nd minute. Daniel Becerra intercepted a North Georgia pass deep in Flagler's defensive third. He dribbled up to midfield before he shuffled off a pass to a teammate and then received the one-touch pass back. Becerra then gave way to Luke Williams who was to the right of the box. Williams sent a pass to Wahlborg who was charging in to the near post and his right-footed shot eluded the diving keeper and was tucked inside the far post.

Wahlborg, who scored the equalizer in the 35th minute, was named the PBC Tournament's Most Valuable Player.

Members on the all-tournament team were: Callum Wyborn, Middle Georgia State University; Rafael Kawata, USCA; Dante Johnson, Georgia Southwestern State University; Miguel Torrecillas and Eric Cruz, Clayton State University; Lucas Lindstrup and Zach Meyer, Lander University; Vukasin Lukovic, Jorge Sandoval, and Santiago Cano, University of North Georgia; Luke Williams, Hugues Iguaran, Owen Cunha, Flagler College.

Sandoval scored the first goal of the match for the Nighthawks in the 31st minute.

Ryan Rivas recorded four saves for Flagler while Aleka Lukic finished with five.

Flagler out-shot North Georgia 13-12 and Williams led the team with three shots. Isaac Calderon and Maxwell Mitchell each had three shots for UNG. The Nighthawks held a slight 6-4 advantage in corner kicks. The Saints committed 24 fouls while the Nighthawks were called for 14 infractions.
