Flagler and USC Aiken play to a draw Wednesday

ST. AUGUSTINE — The Flagler College men's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw against the University of South Carolina Aiken in a Peach Belt Conference men's soccer match this afternoon at Saints Field.

Flagler is now 5-2-4 overall and 2-1-3 in the Peach Belt. USC Aiken left with a 4-3-3 overall record and a 2-2-2 mark in league play. The Saints host Clayton State University on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.

After a scoreless first half, Flagler broke through in the 76th minute when Finn Weigelt scored in the high left corner of the goal off an assist from Luke Williams.

USC Aiken responded in the 85th minute when Rafael Kawata scored the tying goal in the low center with an assist from Raid Zitouni, following USC Aiken's Melvin Maboungou's center shot on goal saved by Flagler goalkeeper Nico Mejia.

Mejia tallied four saves for the Saints while Pacers' goalkeeper Felipe Mattos totaled six.
Flagler out-shot USC Aiken 16-14 and held a 7-5 edge for shots on goal. The Pacers led 6-5 in corner kicks. The Saints were whistled for 15 fouls, while the Pacers had 13.
