ST. AUGUSTINE – No. 4 (Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Division II Top 50) University of North Georgia remained undefeated after besting No. 9 Flagler College 5-2 in a Peach Belt Conference women's tennis match Saturday morning at the Pollard Tennis Center.
North Georgia improved to 16-0 overall and 3-0 in the Peach Belt. Flagler had its eight-match winning streak snapped and fell to 8-3 overall and 1-1 in conference play. The Saints visit Georgia Southwestern State University on Friday at 1 p.m. at the Susan K. Smith Tennis Complex in Americus.
The Nighthawks took the doubles point as Viktorie Wojcikova and Johanna Lippert defeated No. 5-ranked
Nadja Meier and
Dana Heimen, 6-3. Valentina Ascarrunz and Caroline Reis clinched the point with their 6-3 win over
Leonie Floeth and
Eryka Kruk.
Toni Pfeiffer and
Laura Jipescu won singles matches for the Saints. Pfeiffer defeated Svetlana Teterina 6-4, 4-6, 7-5. Jipescu rolled to a straight-sets win over Ascarrunz, 6-0 and 7-6(4).
