Flagler finishes third at PBC Outdoor Track & Field Championship

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Flagler College women's outdoor track and field team placed third at the Peach Belt Conference Track & Field Championship in Daytona Beach, Florida on Monday and Tuesday. Monique Whiteman was named Women's Outstanding Track Athlete of the Year. 
 
The Saints collected 106.5 points. Embry-Riddle took first with 353.5 points and Clayton State followed with 109.
 
Monique Whiteman finished strong for the Saints with a first-place finish in the 10000m with a personal-best time of 40:07.56. She also finished second in the 1500m with a time of 4:38.74 and third in the 5000m at 18:18.32. 
 
Finishing in the top 10 in the 1500m behind Whiteman were Lea Steinbach, Abby Misch and Zoie Marchant. Steinbach hit a personal-best time of 4:39.07 that ranks eighth in the region. Misch finished fifth with a time of 4:42.13 and Marchant was behind her in sixth with a personal-best 4:44.27 that ranks her 17th in the region. 
 
Other major improvements for the Saints came in the 400 hurdles, 3000 steeplechase, 4x100 relay, 4x400 relay and the heptathlon with personal-best finishes in all. Aaliyah Jordan finished fifth in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:08.16 that ranks her 21st in the region. Steinbach placed second in the steeplechase at 11:10.24, ranking fourth in the region. The 4x100 relay team of Jessie Gates, Megan Churchill, Francesca Pece and Enola Savel finished sixth with a time of 1:01.78. Their time ranks 22nd in the region. The 4x400 relay team of Maddi Hood, Monique Whiteman, Abby Misch and Lea Steinbach finished with a time of 4:01.40 to earn third and rank ninth in the region. Zoe Zinnie competed in the heptathlon for the first time earning fourth with 3172 points that ranks her ninth in the region.
 
Three Saints ran in the 800m with Mallory Robinson hitting a personal-best time. Abby Misch finished in fifth with a time of 2:20.64 and behind her was Maddi Hood rounding out the top 10 at seventh with a time of 2:23.02. Robinson hit her personal-best time of 2:32.63 to finish in 17th. 
 
Five other Saints ran in the 1500m which saw 30 athletes compete. Clemence Treguer (4:55.79) and Eden Goddard (4:56.13) finished in the top 15 at eleventh and twelfth, respectively. The next finishers for the Saints were Mattison Culver and Sam Gayton in a back-to-back finish. Culver placed 16th with a time of a 5:01.51 and Gayton in 17th with a time of 5:01.99. Kiki Wine was the final Saint to place in 22nd with a time of 5:08.52. 
 
Megan Churchill took home the gold in the 5000m with a time of 18:11.30 and behind her was Enola Savel (18:23.98) in fifth. Francesca Pece placed 11th with a time of 19:15.99 and Jessie Gates (20:16.11) behind her in 16th.
 
Churchill also had a strong finish in the 10000m in second with a time of 40:08.64. The other two finishers were Savel and Eden Goddard. Savel placed fourth with a time of 40:18.31 and Goddard in eighth with a time of 42:22.36.
 
In the field events, Makinzie Luhrsen competed in the shot put, discus and javelin. She placed sixth in the discus with a personal-best 32.73m throw, seventh in the javelin at 28.42m and ninth in shot put with a 9.40m mark. Zoe Zinnie earned fourth in the high jump with a 4'8.75" jump and Meredith Czajkowski placed 11th in the long jump at 4.79m (15'8.75").
