ST. AUGUSTINE – The Flagler College softball team celebrated their seniors with a 7-0 win over Augusta University on Sunday to take the series win at Flagler Field.
The Saints scored early, putting up four runs in the bottom of the first.
Sydney Stewart started things off with a double to center field and advanced to third on a wild pitch. She then scored on a throwing error by right field.
Cassidy Crump drew a two-out walk to get on base and was follow by a single up the middle from
Kyla Knier that advanced Crump to third. A single through the left side from
Mackenzie Smith scored Crump to make it 2-0 and a double from
Rylee Konowalchuk cleared the bases to make it 4-0.
The bottom of the second saw another run for Flagler. Stewart scored a run after reaching base on a fielder's choice, advancing to second on a wild pitch and making it home on an infield single from
Emily Ricci. There was not a run scored again until the bottom of the sixth when the Saints added their final two. An error by the right fielder allowed
Mackenzie Smith to reach first safely and advance to second when Konowalchuk walked. Only one out in the inning and Maseda reached on a fielder's choice that saw
Olivia Burns, who pinch ran for Smith, out at third. Stewart connected on a triple to right field that brought Maseda and Konowalchuk home to make it 7-0 and a win for the Saints.
Madelyn Wise earned the win after pitching a complete game, facing 24 batters, striking out eight and allowing only three hits.

The Peach Belt Conference Tournament will begin play on April 26-28 with the #1 and #2 seeds as the host sites. The bracket will be released on Monday with information on the double-elimination weekend.
