RALEIGH, N.C. – The Flagler College women's outdoor track and field team competed at the Raleigh Relays in Raleigh, N.C. and the Embry-Riddle Running Elements Classic in Daytona Beach, Fla. this past weekend.
Taylor Stone and
Monique Whiteman broke school records in Raleigh in the 1500m and the 5000m, respectively. Stone hit a new personal-best with her time of 4:27.55 and hit the NCAA Division II provisional mark. Her time ranks 9th in the nation and leads the conference and region. She also hit the provisional standard in the 800m with a time of 2:10.10. Whiteman finished with a personal-best time of 17:10.95, ranking first in the Peach Belt and third in the region.
Megan Churchill ran in the 5000m behind Whiteman, finishing with a time of 17:49.81.
At the Embry-Riddle Running Elements Classic the Saints had entries in the 100m, 200m, 800m, 1500m, 5000m, and 3000 steeplechase. As well as field entries in the high jump, long jump, shot put, discus and javelin.
Freshmen
Zoe Zinnie and
Madison Miller ran in the 100m and finished in 29th and 33rd, respectively. Zinnie finished with a personal-best time of 13.11 and Miller behind at 13.24. Miller earned a personal-best in the 200m with a time of 27.51 that put her in 37th and Zinnie finished behind her in 39th at 27.73.
Three Saints ran in the 800m with
Abby Misch leading the Saints in second with a time of 2:12.76.
Maddi Hood finished in 15th with a time of 2:19.53 and
Natalie Dempsey in 35th with a time of 2:30.37.
Flagler had nine entries in the 1500m with five of those finishing in the top 25.
Zoie Marchant was the first to finish in 10th with a time of 4:53.50 and
Hope Siner was right behind her in 11th with a time of 4:53.54. Rounding out the top 25 were
Sam Gayton (4:55.90) in 14th,
Kiki Wine (5:01.36) in 21st and Mattison Culver (5:02.48) in 22nd. The final four Saints to finish were Jessie Gates (5:09.43) in 32nd,
Isabella Sibbrell (5:19.89) in 45th,
Chelsea Paglia (5:40.65) in 62nd and
Alexa Kulis (5:43.39) in 64th.
Clemence Treguer,
Francesca Pece,
Riley Carter and
Vivian Brezler finished in the 5000m for the Saints. Treguer finished in third with a time of 18:11.58 and Pece in 11th at 18:54.89. Carter posted a time of 19:55.22 to finish 18th and Brezler finished 24th with a time of 20:24.44.
Lea Steinbach earned the best finish for Flagler in first place in the 3000 steeplechase with a time of 11:23.43.
In the field events,
Zoe Zinnie finished in sixth with a 1.42m jump in the high jump and 18th in the long jump at 4.86m.
Chelsea Paglia earned 25th in the long jump with a mark of 4.53m.
Makinzie Luhrsen competed in shot put, discus and javelin. Her best finish came in the javelin, earning 8th with a personal-best throw of 28.53m. She finished 18th in the discus at 27.84m and 19th in the shot put with a 8.94m mark.
The Saints travel to Albany, Ga. for the Alice Coachman Invite on April 13.
