ST. AUGUSTINE – No. 7 (Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Division II Top 50) Flagler College rolled to a 7-0 win over Lander University in a Peach Belt Conference women's tennis match Friday morning at the Pollard Tennis Center on "Senior Day."
Before the match, the Saints honored their lone senior,
Nadja Meier. She holds the D2 era record for winning percentage in a season, 92.3, which she recorded last year.
Flagler improved to 11-4 overall and 4-1 in the Peach Belt. This was the first home match for the Saints in 13 days. Lander lost its eighth match in a row and dropped to 2-13 overall and 0-5 in conference play. Due to the weather forecast, Flagler will play its regular season finale tomorrow at 11 a.m. at Augusta University.
In doubles, Meier and
Dana Heimen, ranked No. 4 nationally, rolled to a 6-1 win and
Leonie Floeth and
Charlotta Buss followed with a 6-0 win to secure the team point.
Laura Jipescu and
Toni Pfeiffer made it a clean sweep with a 7-5 victory at No. 3.
The Saints steamrolled through singles winning every match in straight sets. Meier, ranked No. 2, played in her last regular season match at home and turned in a dominating 6-0, 6-3 win over Mille Elsborg, which clinched the match. Heimen, ranked No. 70, rolled to a 6-1, 6-1 win over Maria Jose Zarza.

Eryka Kruk, and Jipescu all wrapped up wins.
