PITTSBURG, Kan. – Flagler College junior Taylor Stone competed in the mile at the 2024 NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field National Championship this afternoon at the Robert W. Plaster Center.

Stone competed in the first heat of the mile run and posted a time of 4:49.05. She finished 12th overall between the two heats of 17 runners total. The top three runners in each heat advance as well as the next three best times regardless of heat.

"I'm very proud of her. A year ago today she was hurt and not able to run," said head coach Brian Beil. "Flash forward to this season and she's not only running healthy, but she's finishing a record-breaking season where she not only ran a personal best, but advanced to the national championship. More than that, she's a great teammate who puts others first. We're lucky to call her a Saint, and I can't wait to see what else she can accomplish at Flagler."

She finished in sixth place in the first heat. Gracie Hyde of Adams State University finished first in the heat and overall at 4:44.51. Elena Carey (4:45.13) of Adams State University and Kate Hedlund (44:46.16) of UC-Colorado Springs finished in second and third place, respectively.

From the second heat, Kaylee Beyer (4:46.22) from Winona State University finished in first place. Klaudia O'Malley (4:46.23) from Grand Valley State University and Vienna Lahner (4:47.00) from Adams State University also advanced for finishing in the top three of their heat.
