ST. AUGUSTINE – No. 21 (Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Division II Top 50) Flagler College extended its winning streak to four with a 4-3 victory over Valdosta State University in a non-conference women's tennis match Wednesday afternoon at the Pollard Tennis Center.
Flagler improved to 4-2 and Valdosta State dropped to 2-4. The Saints take on No. 3 Wayne State University on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the NSU Tennis Complex at Rolling Hills in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Leonie Floeth and
Charlotta Buss won the first doubles match 6-4, but the next match went to the Blazers. The team point came down to No. 1 doubles and seventh-ranked
Nadja Meier and
Dana Heimen won their match 7-5.
Meier won her singles match over Natalie Rainke 6-1, 6-0 to give Flagler a 2-1 lead. Floeth and Kruk both won in straight sets to give the Saints a 4-1 lead to clinch the match. Valdosta State won matches at Nos. 2 and 3 singles.
