MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. –No. 8 (Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Division II Top 25) Flagler College shut out its second consecutive opponent with a 7-0 victory over Georgia College & State University in a Peach Belt Conference women's tennis match Friday morning at the Centennial Center Tennis Facility.
Flagler extended its winning streak to eight match and improved to 8-2 overall and 1-0 in the Peach Belt. Georgia College saw its two-match winning streak come to an end and it dropped to 8-7 overall and 0-1 in conference play. The Saints travel to face the University of Tampa on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
The Saints rolled in doubles.
Dana Heimen and
Nadja Meier, ranked No. 5 in the country, won their ninth-straight match with a 6-2 victory over Jada Young and Ashton Morrison.
Eryka Kruk and
Charlotta Buss clinched the point with their win over Shradha Chhabra and Ashley Bentz, 6-3.
Leonie Floeth and
Toni Pfeiffer notched a 7-6(2) win.
Flagler swept through singles play, but No. 2-ranked Meier was challenged by Young winning 7-6(5) and 7-6(3). Kruk won her 11
th match in a row with a 7-5, 6-4 win. Pfeiffer won her seventh match in a row with a 6-2, 6-2 victory. No. 67 Heimen raised her singles record to 8-2 with a 6-0, 6-4 triumph.
