No. 8 Saints reel in the Sailfish

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. –No. 8 (Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Division II Top 25) Flagler College rolled to a 7-0 win over Palm Beach Atlantic University in a non-conference women's tennis match Wednesday afternoon at the Mitch Gornto Tennis Center.

Flagler, playing in its first match in 12 days, improved to 7-2 overall. Palm Beach Atlantic had its two-match win streak halted and dropped to 4-10. The Saints open Peach Belt Conference play on Friday at No. 47 Georgia College & State University at 9 a.m.

The doubles point came down the No. 2 doubles match between Leonie Floeth/Toni Pfeiffer and Jelsyvette Croes/Jasmine Williams. Floeth and Pfeiffer improved to 3-1 this season with a 7-6(8) win after the other two doubles matches were split. No. 5-ranked Dana Heimen and Nadja Meier won their eighth match in a row with a 6-3 victory over Simona Karlsson Hantzis and Cecilia Peroni.

Flagler won four of the matches in straight sets. Meier, ranked No. 2, cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Jasmine Willams. Heimen, ranked No. 67, coasted past Hantzis 6-0, 6-1. Toni Pfeiffer's 6-0, 6-4 win at No. 6 clinched the match for the Saints. Floeth, Charlotta Buss, and Eryka Kruk all posted wins. Kruk won her 10th match in a row.
