ST. AUGUSTINE – No. 3 (ITA Collegiate Division II rankings) Flagler College made quick work of the University of Charleston 4-0 in a non-conference men's tennis match Saturday afternoon at the Pollard Tennis Center. Due to the playing conditions and impending weather, the match was played to clinch.
Flagler improved to 5-2 overall while Charleston suffered its first loss and fell to 5-1. Up next for the Saints is the No. 20 Ferris State University on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Pollard Tennis Center.
Only the singles matches were played as the women's teams needed to get their match in too. In singles, top-ranked
Baptiste Mercier crusied to a 6-0, 6-2 win over No. 26 Jowan Rawson.
Simon Malis had a straight-sets win over Ruben Acuna 6-2, 6-2).
Ilian Borlee rolled to a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Farhaan Patrawala. No. 7
Jacopo Denitto bested No. 6 Jorge Perez Diaz 3-6, 6-2, and 6-1 at No. 1 singles.
