WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. –
Carley Tepel scored four goals to help lead No. 9 (IWLCA Division II Top 25) Flagler College to a 16-8 victory over Palm Beach Atlantic University in a non-conference women's lacrosse match Friday evening at the PBA Soccer/Lacrosse Field.
The Saints now sit 2-0 overall for the season and the Sailfish dropped to 0-2.
The Saints started strong with
Jessica Wright scoring the first goal of the game. The Sailfish fired back quickly with a goal, however the Saints answered back with a goal from Tepel to end the first quarter 2-1.
The two teams continued to go back and forth throughout the second quarter with the Saints scoring five more times and the Sailfish four ending the first half with Flagler holding a 7-5 lead.
The Saints great offensive effort allowed them to maintain their lead the entire game with seven different Saints scoring tonight.
Although they were outscored in the end Sailfish goalie Courtney Rausch held up the defensive end making 15 saves. Rachel Delate led the offense with a pair of goals and three assists.
The Saints defense also stood out with
Jenn Seebach picking up five ground balls and causing two turnovers. Saints goalie
Lauren Ribadeneira made five saves.
The Saints will return Feb. 14 at 5 p.m. as they host No. 2 Florida Southern College at the Flagler Lacrosse Field.
