ST. AUGUSTINE –
Destiny McClendon scored 15 of her game-high 21 points in the second half to lead Flagler College to 79-58 victory over USC Aiken in a Peach Belt Conference women's basketball game Wednesday evening at Flagler Gymnasium.
Flagler improved to 10-11 overall and 5-6 in the Peach Belt. The Saints have won three-of-their-last four games. USC Aiken lost its 11
th game in a row in fell to 4-17 overall and 0-11 in conference play. Flagler hosts Georgia College & State University on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
The Saints made their move in the middle of the third quarter with an 11-1 spurt.
Dane Bertolina keyed the run with a three-pointer to give Flagler a 38-36 lead. She also capped the run with a trey to give the Saints a 46-37 lead with 5:38 left in the quarter.
Flagler maintained a double-digit lead for the entirety of the fourth quarter.
McClendon sank 6-of-9 from the field and made 3-of-4 from three-point range. She sank all six free throws. Bertolina finished with 16 points, eight assists, and seven rebounds.
Jessica Dowdy came off the bench to contribute 10 points.
Maddie Erickson grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.
Jentro Worley led the Pacers with 11 points. Sami Bardonaro added 10 points. Annalise Malone finished with a team-high eight rebounds.
