ST. AUGUSTINE –
Destiny McClendon scored a game-high 22 points in Flagler College's 60-45 loss to Georgia College & State University in a Peach Belt Conference women's basketball game Saturday afternoon at Flagler Gymnasium.
Flagler is now 10-12 overall and 5-7 in the Peach Belt. Georgia College evened its record to 11-11 overall and is now 5-7 in conference play. The Saints head north to face Augusta University on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
A 7-0 spurt by the Bobcats at the end of the first quarter and the start of the second helped extend their lead to 17-7 and GCSU never looked back.
The Saints got as close as seven points (34-27) after a pair of McClendon free throws. She tied her season high with 13 made from the charity stripe.
Sharale McCormick added seven points and rebounds while
Dane Bertolina finished with five points and eight boards.
Jaleah Storr came off the bench to lead the Bobcats with 17 points. Asahiya Willis and Myra Strickland each added 12 points. Jada Warren grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds.
