DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. –
Tyler Douglass scored four goals and tallied an assist,
Griffin Moore added three goals, and
Trace McDonald scored a pair of goals and had five assists in Flagler College's 12-8 win over Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in a non-conference men's lacrosse game Saturday afternoon at the ERAU Lacrosse Field.
Flagler improved to 2-1 overall while Embry-Riddle lost its season opener. The Saints head to Melbourne for a game next Saturday (Feb. 17) at Florida Tech.
The Saints dominated early as they jumped out to a 5-1 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Trace McDonald scored a goal and had an assist on three others in the opening quarter.
Flagler held an 8-4 lead at the half and withstood a run by Embry-Riddle in the third quarter to lead 9-6.
Douglass netted a pair of goals to open the fourth quarter to put the game away.
Nate Lehr finished with seven saves and
Matt Mitrega paced the defense with a game-high 10 ground balls.
Christian Hofer led the Eagles with four goals. Carter Groezinger and Reid Kerr each collected eight saves.
