WINTER PARK, Fla. –
Josiah Shackelford scored a season high 26 points with help of six made 3-pointers as Flagler College hung on to defeat Rollins College 85-79 Tuesday evening at Warden Arena.
Flagler improved to 6-2 and has won three-of-its-last-four games. This was the first road win for the Saints this year. Rollins dropped to 5-5. Flagler stays on the road as it will play at the Tampa Classic. The Saints open against Eckerd College on Friday at 7 p.m. at the Bob Martinez Athletics Center.
Shackelford finished 8-of-12 from the field, 6-of-8 from 3-point range, and was 4-of-6 from the free throw line. He grabbed five rebounds. Shackelford scored 14 points in the second half alone. Also having a stellar night was
Jax Bouknight. He scored 21 points, dished out a career high 10 assists, and added seven rebounds. Bouknight tallied 16 points in the first half.
Jaylen Jordon added 18 points and five rebounds.
Flagler made 54.1 percent (33-61) from the field, it's best performance this season since shooting 54.2 percent vs. Lynn on Nov. 20. The Saints also shot 44.8 percent (13-29) from behind the arc. Flagler has made 10 or more 3-pointers in five-of-the-eight game this year.
Sergey Grishaev led four Tars in double figures with 22 points and he grabbed a game-high nine rebounds. Beau Frericks added 17 points and five assists while Emilis Butkus tacked on 15 points, four rebounds, and four assists. John Latimer III finished with 14 points, six boards, and had three steals.
The Saints led by as many as 12 (81-69) with under five minutes to go and withstood an 8-0 run by the Tars to come away with the win.
