KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Flagler College junior defender Max Gottwald was selected to the United Soccer Coaches All-America third team according to a release late Thursday.

Gottwald was the first men's soccer All-American since Matteo Costa in 2021 when he was a D2CCA second team honoree. The last United Soccer Coaches (formerly the NSCAA) All-American from Flagler was Johan Bergfeld who earned second team honors in 2010.   

The Harsewinkel, Germany native was recognized by both D2CCA and the United Soccer Coaches as a first team all-southeast region selection. Gottwald played in 19 matches and started 18. He scored three goals and was selected as the Peach Conference Defensive Player of the Year.
