ST. AUGUSTINE – Flagler College head men's basketball coach Blake Selland announced that Summerville High School star Melvin Teal, Jr. will be coming to the Ancient City in the Fall of 2025.

Currently, Teal is No. 3 on BigShots South Carolina 2025 point guard rankings and is ranked No. 5 in South Carolina high school boys' basketball by PrepHoops.

"We are so excited to add Melvin to the Flagler family," said Selland. "He has tremendous size and feel at the guard position. Melvin has great physicality, speed, and toughness as well as the leadership skills you love from a lead guard. He is a winner! Melvin had multiple offers and we are glad we are able to keep him in the South."

Teal averaged 16.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 3.0 steals per game last year. He has Summerville High ranked No. 3 in Class 5A, Division I by the South Carolina Basketball Coaches Association. Teal earned all-state honors as a junior and a sophomore.
