GREENWOOD, S.C. –
Molly Boyd recorded a match-high 16 kills and
Jordan Berglin added 15 more as Flagler College defeated USC Aiken 3-1 (25-18, 25-21, 17-25, 25-15) in a Peach Belt Conference Tournament semifinal match Friday afternoon at the Finis Horne Arena.
Flagler improved to 13-10 and will face the winner of tonight's second semifinal in tomorrow's championship match a 1 p.m. USC Aiken fell to 12-8 and will see if it receives an at-large berth when the field is announced on Monday at 7:30 p.m.
Boyd hit a red-hot .571 as her 16 kills came on 28 errorless swings. She added five aces and four total blocks to her line. Berglin notched her 10
th double-double as she paired her 15 kills with 10 digs. She added four total blocks.
Clare Sheedy tallied 42 assists and nine digs while
Lexi Basler collected a team-high 17 digs.
Colby Stempkowski hit .500 with eight kills on 16 errorless swings and
Meredith Dixon had six kills on nine errorless swings to finish with a .667 percentage. Stempkowski also recorded four total blocks.
Flagler hit .314 as a team with 56 kills and 12 errors on 140 swings. It was the highest percentage for the Saints since a .356 mark against Trevecca Nazarene University. Flagler's 12 service aces were the third-most this season.
Emily Lammers recorded a double-double for the Pacers with 11 kills and 10 digs. Alli Bishop tacked on 10 kills. Kaitlyn Rodriguez collected a match-high 21 digs. Sidney Hogan tallied 20 assists.
The Saints won the first two sets before the Pacers took the third set. In the fourth set, Flagler trailed 4-3 until a 4-0 spurt gave the Saints the lead for good. Kills by Dixon and Berglin came before back-to-back double-blocks by Boyd and Berglin.
