DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. –
Andrea Fernandez scored a pair of goals and assisted on another to help lead Flagler College to a 4-0 win over No. 25 (United Soccer Coaches Division II Top 25) Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in the regular season finale Saturday night at the ERAU Soccer Stadium.
Flagler is 4-0-1 in its last five matches and finished the regular season slate with a 7-2-5 overall record. Embry-Riddle dropped to 8-6-2 overall and has lost three-of-its-last-four matches. Flagler will now wait for the Peach Belt Conference Tournament bracket release on Wednesday to see who and where it will play.
Fernandez's first goal came in the 17
th minute off a
Cisel Akguel pass and that gave the Saints a 1-0 lead. She added another goal in the 59
th minute, with
Paige Churchill on the assist, to give Flagler a 3-0 advantage.
Churchill and Akguel each scored a goal and had an assist for the Saints.
Samantha St. Pierre also tallied an assist.
Fernandez led Flagler with four shots, including three on goal. Akguel and Churchill each had three shots.
Lauryn Mateo led the Eagles with five shots.
Henley Grunst finished with four saves and recorded her second shutout of the season for the Saints. Oona Jokinen tallied three saves for Embry-Riddle.
The Eagles out-shot the Saints 14-12 and held a 7-2 edge in corner kicks.
