Destiny McClendon scored a game-high 20 points in Flagler College's home opener, which was an 89-71 loss to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in a non-conference women's basketball game Wednesday night at Flagler Gym.

Flagler drops to 1-2 while Embry-Riddle remains undefeated at 3-0. The Saints host another Sunshine State Conference team, Florida Tech, on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Sharale McCormick added 16 points, three assists, and two steals for Flagler.
Jazmine Major tacked on five points, five rebounds, and four assists.
Laney Noreika and
Carleigh Grimm each grabbed five rebounds.
Jessica Dowdy finished with six points, four rebounds, and four assists while
Se'Lah Reddick chipped in with six points, three rebounds, two blocked shots, and two steals.

Kailey Turpening lead the Eagles with 16 points, seven assists, contributed four rebounds, and went 3-for-3 on free throws. Sarah Napoli and Anye' Staton added 14 points apiece. Laurie Satchell grabbed a game-high seven rebounds.

The Eagles used a 12-2 run midway in the first quarter and never looked back. Turpening scored half of the points for Embry-Riddle in that three-minute spurt.
Embry-Riddle forced 16 Flagler turnovers and scored 21 points in return.
