ST. AUGUSTINE –
Jordan Berglin and
Amelia Fitzpatrick recorded double-doubles to help lead Flagler College defeat Augusta University 3-2 (25-17, 15-25, 25-16, 17-25, 15-11) in a Peach Belt Conference volleyball match Saturday afternoon at Flagler Gym.
Flagler improved to 7-9 overall and 3-2 in the Peach Belt. Augusta dropped to 11-4 overall and 1-1 in conference play. Flagler heads to Augusta University on Oct. 25 at 6 p.m.
Berglin finished with a match-high 16 kills and added 14 digs for her fifth double-double of the season. Fitzpatrick had a career-high 15 kills to go along with 11 digs for her first double-double of the season.
Clare Sheedy tallied 45 assists and
Lexi Basler paced the defense with 17 digs.
Sophia Kruczko came off the bench to supply a team-high 13 kills and hit .500 as she had 26 errorless swings for Augusta. Marah Zenner notched a double-double with 19 assists and 10 digs. Giulia Rodrigues led the team with 17 digs.
After the teams split the first two sets, it all came down to the deciding fifth set. With the score tied at 6-all, Berglin book-ended two kills in a 4-0 run that put Flagler ahead for good. Fitzpatrick added a kill and Sheedy an ace. Fitzpatrick ended the match with a kill.
