ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The Flagler College softball team, led by head coach,
Kathryn Grant,
released their 2024 schedule on Thursday afternoon.
The Saints are set for a 54-game season, 32 of them will be played at Flagler Field.
The Saints open their season in the ancient city on Friday, Feb. 2 against Catawba College in the annual Flagler Invitational (Feb. 2-4). The tournament will host two other schools: Barry University and Florida Institute of Technology. The Saints add a midweek doubleheader against Chadron State on Feb. 6 at Flagler Field.
Getting a fast start to the season Flagler hosts another tournament, the Old Coast Classic, the following weekend (Feb. 9-11). The Saints kick-off the classic against Edward Waters University while the rest of the tournament features Wingate University, Converse College and Saint Leo University. Saint Leo and Wingate were ranked 16th and 18th, respectively, in the final 2023 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division II coaches poll.
After finishing their own hosting, Flagler will head off to the Bearcat/Fleet Invitational in Greenwood, S.C. to face Erskine College, Emmanuel University, Wingate University and Young Harris College in the two-day tournament (Feb. 16-17).
The Saints return home for a midweek doubleheader against Valdosta State University on Feb. 21 at 3 p.m. before getting into the conference segment of their season.
Flagler will start conference play on the road on Saturday, Feb. 24 at Georgia College and State University in a three-game series. From there, the team will travel to play Savannah State University in a non-conference doubleheader on Feb. 27.
The Saints resume conference play back at Flagler Field in a three-game series against Georgia Southwestern State University (March 8-9).
After a non-conference doubleheader at home against UVA Wise (March 13), Flagler will hit the road to face conference opponent USC Beaufort in a three-game series (March 16-17).
Allen University comes to Flagler Field on March 20 and precedes a three-game series at the reigning NCAA Division II National Champion, University of North Georgia on March 23-24. Flagler closes the month with conference play in a three-game series at home against Columbus State University on March 29-20.
The Saints start the month of April with a twin bill on the road at Saint Leo (April 2), followed by a three-game series at Lander University (April 5-6). Flagler will host Nova Southeastern University for a doubleheader on April 9. Nova Southeastern finished at number 6 in the final 2023 NFCA Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll.
Flagler finishes the conference slate with back to back series at home against USC Aiken (April 13-14) and Augusta University (April 20-21).
The Saints regular season concludes with a doubleheader at Barry University on April 23.
The Peach Belt Conference Tournament will be held April 26-28 at the number one or two seeded team's home field. The PBC Tournament Championship Series will be held on May 3-4 at the highest seeded team's home field.
