ST. AUGUSTINE –
Dane Bertolina was one of three Flagler College players to score in double figures with a team-high 18 points and she added 12 rebounds for her third double-double of the year in a 70-59 win over USC Beaufort in a Peach Belt Conference women's basketball game at Flagler Gymnasium.
Flagler improved to 8-10 overall and 3-5 in the Peach Belt. The Saints have won three-of-their-last-four games. USC Beaufort, a first-year program, falls to 5-11 overall and 1-7 in league play. The Sand Sharks have lost seven-of-their-last eight games. Up next for Flagler is a road game against Lander University on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
The two teams went to the locker rooms after the first half in a 34-all tie. The Saints opened the third quarter on an 18-4 run to seize control of the game. Flagler maintained a double-digit lead the rest of the way.
The Saints limited the Sand Sharks to 22.2 percent shooting from the floor in the third quarter. Flagler outscored USCB 18-8. The Saints shot 62.5 percent in the first quarter, which helped them to a 22-14 lead after 10 minutes.
Sharale McCormick added 17 points and five rebounds for Flagler.
Destiny McClendon finished with 13 points.
Se'Lah Reddick contributed seven points, nine rebounds, and three assists.
Mahkayla Premo led the Sand Sharks with 18 points while Taniyah Bowman added 14 points. Janiyah Heyward recorded a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Shaniya Rose grabbed a game-high 14 boards.
