Saints unleash a Mac attack as McCormick and McClendon help defeat the Pacers

AIKEN, S.C. – Sharale McCormick and Destiny McClendon combined to score 41 points to help Flagler College hold off USC Aiken 85-80 in a Peach Belt Conference women's basketball game Wednesday evening at the Convocation Center.

Flagler improved to 6-7 overall and 1-2 in the Peach Belt. USC Aiken lost its third game in a row and fell to 4-9 overall and 0-3 in league play. The Saints head to Milledgeville, Georgia on Saturday to face Georgia College & State University.

An Aspen Weeks five-foot jumper gave Flagler a 17-point lead (81-64) with 2:36 left in the game. The Pacers rallied to within three points (83-80) after Jentri Worley's three-pointer to cap a 16-2 run. Se'Lah Reddick sealed the game for the Saints with a pair of free throws with just four seconds remaining.

McCormick led Flagler with 21 points as she made 9-of-14 from the field. McClendon added an additional 20 points and knocked down all seven free throws. Weeks and Beka Benge each tallied 12 points. Dane Bertolina finished with seven points, a game-high 13 rebounds, and six assists. Reddick contributed seven points, six rebounds, and a she tied her season-high with eight assists.

Hailey Unger led the Pacers with 21 points while Annalise Malone came off the bench to provide 19 points and 11 rebounds. Worley and Paris Webster each added 10 points.

NOTE: Flagler won its first road game of the season and snapped a seven-game losing streak in away contests. The last road win for the Saints was on Jan. 28, 2023 at Lander University (61-55). Tonight's win was the first at Aiken since Feb. 7, 2018 (62-53).
