LAKELAND, Fla. –
Jordan Berglin and Colby Stempkowski had 14 and 11 kills, respectively, but it wasn't enough in Flagler College's 3-2 (22-25, 25-23, 29-27, 21-25, 12-15) loss to Florida Southern College in the final match of the FSC Volleyball Classic on Saturday.

Lainee Mack each added 20 assists to the Flagler offense, as well as two service aces from Mack. Senior
Edie Lamoreaux dug up 25 balls for the Saints and
Molly Boyd led the team with four total blocks.
Flagler fell in the first set by three points after holding the lead at 22-21, but Florida Southern went on to take the next four points to finish off the first set. The script flipped in the second set with the Moccasins holding the lead until a kill from
Cecilia Robert put the Saints at set point, eventually taking the set 25-23. The third set went into extra points as each team was not ready to give up the fight. Flagler held set point four times before finally finishing it 29-27. The rest of the match stayed close with even play but Florida Southern came out on top of the five-set thriller.
As a team, the Saints posted 58 kills, 79 digs and 8 aces, beating the Moccasins out in all three categories.
Mackenzie Petermann led Florida Southern with a double-double of 18 kills and 19 digs. Zoe Lowe was behind her with a career-high 11 kills and career-best three solo blocks.
Flagler opens their home season with the Flagler Saints Classic this Friday and Saturday at Flagler Gymnasium, welcoming Converse College, University of Missouri-St. Louis, Missouri Southern State University and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
