ST. AUGUSTINE – Flagler College head women's soccer coach
Ashley Martin released the 2023 schedule this afternoon. The Saints will play 16 matches and seven will be held at Saints Field.
Flagler will play against two conference regular season champions, two conference tournament champions, four NCAA tournament teams, and three teams that were nationally ranked in the final 2022 poll.
In the last six seasons, the Saints have posted a record of 45-2-3 (.930) in matches played at Saints Field.
Flagler is coming off another great season as it posted a 14-3-4 overall record and went 8-1-1 in the Peach Belt Conference. The Saints won their fourth consecutive conference tournament title and advanced to the NCAA Division II National Tournament for the fifth consecutive year (excluding the COVID shortened season in 2020). Flagler finished the 2022 season ranked No. 15 in the final United Soccer Coaches poll.
The Saints open on the road for the second consecutive season. The season opener is Aug. 31 at Limestone University. The Saints won the South Atlantic Conference Tournament title one year ago. Flagler concludes its opening weekend at Anderson University on Sept. 2. On Sept. 8, Flagler heads to Pensacola to take on the University of West Florida. The Argonauts were the Gulf South Conference regular season champions and advanced to the NCAA Division II Tournament quarterfinals. West Florida was ranked No. 5 in the final poll.
Flagler opens its home schedule on Sept. 13 against Eckerd College. The Peach Belt Conference opener will be a showdown between the two top teams in the league last year as regular season champion Columbus State University visits Saints Field. The Lady Cougars advanced to the NCAA Division II Tournament semifinal and was ranked No. 3 in the final poll.
A pair of road games follow for the Saints. USC Aiken (Sept. 20) and the University of North Georgia (Sept. 23) are the first two league road contests.
The Saints close out the month at home against Georgia College & State University (Sept. 30).
The first four-of-five matches in October are at Saints Field. Barry University (Oct. 4), Clayton State University (Oct. 7), and Georgia Southwestern State University (Oct. 11) begin the month in the Ancient City. After a road game at Lander University (Oct. 14), the final regular season home game is Oct. 18 against USC Beaufort.
The regular season concludes with road games against Albany State University (Oct. 21), Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (Oct. 25), and Florida Tech (Oct. 28). Embry-Riddle advanced to the NCAA Division II region final last year after winning the Sunshine State Conference Tournament. The Eagles were ranked No. 10 in the final poll.
The conference tournament schedule has not been released at this time. The first and second rounds of the NCAA Division II Tournament will be played Nov. 16-19. The third round and the quarterfinals are Dec. 1-3. The final four will be played Dec. 7-9 at East Ridge, Tennessee.
