ST. AUGUSTINE –
Ella Pinder scored three goals for No. 11 (IWLCA Division II Top 25 Poll) Flagler College in its 20-7 victory over Gulf South Conference opponent Young Harris College Saturday afternoon at the Flagler Lacrosse Field.
This is the Saints 10th win in a row, bringing them to 3-0 in GSC play and 12-1 overall. The Mountain Lions drop to 1-2 in conference play and 6-8 overall.
The Saints started the game strong creating an 8-2 lead by the end of the first quarter and proceeded to create a 10-goal lead to earn running clock by the end of the first half. The Saints remained dominant the entire game with a total of 14 different Saints scoring in today's matchup. This included seniors
Katelyn Trainor with two goals as well as
Sophia DeSimone and
Jordan Green with a goal apiece. Flagler honored their four seniors in a ceremony before the game.
The Saints defense also helped maintain the lead with
Kenzie Dillon causing three turnovers,
Eva Stine collecting three ground balls, and Pinder winning five draw controls. Senior
Alex Eubanks scooped up two ground balls. Despite being outscored in the end Mountain Lions goalie Maddy Meyers earned six saves in today's game and Ella Hancock won five draw controls in the team's favor as well.
The Saints will hit the road for their next game on April 15 at 4 p.m. (CT) to face GSC foe The University of Alabama in Huntsville.
