HUNTSVILLE, Ala. –
Lexie Morton scored five goals, leading No. 11 (IWLCA Division II Top 25 Poll) Flagler College in its Gulf South Conference matchup with The University of Alabama in Huntsville. The Saints rallied to defeat the Chargers, 15-12.
This is the Flagler's 10
th win in a row bringing it to 13-1 overall and 4-0 in GSC play. UAH drops to 4-1 in the GSC and 8-8 overall.
Despite falling in the end, the Chargers led the entire first half, 6-2. UAH was led by Katie Gerber who scored four goals.
The Saints managed to comeback during the second half. Morton scored the first goal of the third quarter followed up by goals from
Katelyn Trainor,
Jessica Wright,
Ella Pinder,
Carley Tepel, Sydeny Onega, and
Carly LaFerriere, whose goal with 32 seconds left gave Flagler its first lead at 9-8. The Saints and Chargers kept it close the rest of the half but the Saints ended up on top.
LaFerriere stood out on the Saints defense coming up with seven draw controls.
Kenzie Dillon also shined through with three caused turnovers. Flagler goalie
Lauren Ribadeneira had five saves in today's game as well.
The Saints will return on April 16 at 12 p.m. for another GSC matchup at Shorter University.
