ST. AUGUSTINE – Atanas Mikuzis broke a school record with seven goals as he helped lead Flagler College to a 24-6 win against Peach Belt Conference opponent Shorter University Saturday afternoon on "Senior Day" as the Flagler Lacrosse Field. The 24 goals scored broke the school record.
The Saints are now 3-0 in PBC play and 5-8 overall. The Hawks now drop to 2-9 overall and 0-3 in the PBC.
The Saints came out strong in the first quarter, scoring five goals in a row before hearing back from the Hawks. However, the Saints continued to widen the gap and ended the first half leading 12-5.
The Flagler offense maintained their lead the rest of the game with 13 different Saints finding the back of the net in this afternoon's game. This included a hat trick from
Geraint Shaw and two goals each for Colton Reynolds,
Logan Tobias, and
Tyler Douglass.
The Saints also dominated on the faceoff with Matt Mitrega winning 10,
Jake Griffin winning seven, and
John Adams Dowdy winning four.
Grant Sanders scored two goals to lead the Hawks and Chase Finley recorded 25 saves.
At halftime, the Saints honored their five seniors: Griffin, Noah Kole,
Jackson Krasny,
Thomas Pritchard, and
Ty Tom.
The Saints host PBC opponent Lander University for their next game on April 15 at 12 p.m.
